Fisherton Street closed overnight this week
It's as the Fisherton Gateway project gets ever closer to its end
Salisbury's Fisherton Street will be closed to traffic overnight from tonight (Monday 5th August) as part of the Gateway project.
Wiltshire Council say the closures will be in place from 7.00pm to 6.00am each night until Thursday 8th August.
That's for the installation of a 'build out' at the Summerlock Bridge for Water Lane.
We're told that will help to provide the priority traffic system, set-out in the project design, that will be introduced when the road is re-opened to two way traffic.
The work could have a particular impact on restaurants and takeaways on Fisherton Street this week.
Delivery drivers will be able to park in the area behind City Hall and walk through to Fisherton Street to make their collections - with access via the A36.
North Street will become two way for the duration, so vehicles can exit via South Street.
Cllr Nick Holder, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Street Scene and Flooding, said:
“One of our Business Plan priorities is to have vibrant well-connected communities and we are well on our way to achieving this in Salisbury.
“We would like to thank businesses and residents for their patience and continued co-operation in delivering these important schemes for Salisbury.”
These projects form part of the £9 million investment from the government’s Future High Streets Fund.
